Comment Please: Why do you boo Subban?

I wss listening to the local sports radio show today. One of the hosts said that a large part of the reason P.K. Subban is booed so much here in Boston is because of his skin color. The other hosts didn’t agree.

What’s your take?

    Good question. I think you’re being naive if you think it plays NO factor. While Subban is arrogant and tough to play against, that doesn’t make him different than a lot of opponents who play the Bruins at the TD Garden. I think his skin color makes him an easy target for misguided fans who don’t know the game and are just following the crowd.

    It’s clearly the reason why he is being booed, and it’s sad. Boston has a long history of racist sports fans and it has not gone away. If you can come up with a legitamate reason why it’s happening I will retract, but It’s highly improbable.

    Eh, I’m not sure I can go with it being _the_ reason. I’m a black hockey fan, I’ve been going to Bruins games since the 80s and haven’t run into any issues from staff or fans. I will also point out that both Ovechkin and Crosby get booed in Boston, frequently.

    Sorry but it has NOTHING to do with race. PK has so much talent. But this is a prime example as to why he gets booed.

    I am an avid Boston fan and i do not believe it has anything to do with race. Subban is a player who often steps away from his battles to let another teammate step up for him. He often tries to draw ridiculous penalties as well (not that a lot of players don’t do that). He comes off as a prick, AND he is on the biggest rivaling team against Boston. If we fans don’t like any current Montreal players, we will feel no remorse booing any players, regardless of race.

    Subban is an asshole.
